Special Olympics USA

Thus far in 2022, due to generous support from the USGA, individual donors, and additional golf industry associations and organizations, the Alliance has been able to not only assist the recently completed Special Olympics USA Games in Orlando, FL, but also help Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools in Texas and Utah start on the journey towards successful inclusive golf programs.

The Special Olympics mission is, "... is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community."

Unifited Champion Schools are "...aimed at promoting social inclusion through intentionally planned and implemented activities affecting systems-wide change...These are school climates where students with disabilities feel welcome and are routinely included in, and feel a part of, all activities, opportunities and functions."

The Special Olympics and other programs support numerous athletes around the country in bringing the game of golf to people with disabilities.
