The National Alliance for Accessible Golf incorporates and becomes a tax exempt organization

The National Alliance for Accessible Golf was established in August of 2001 under a Memorandum of Understanding among Indiana University, Clemson University and the University of Utah. The Alliance began its operations housed at Indiana University's National Center on Accessibility in Bloomington, Indiana. The initial Leadership Council was appointed from representative golf and disability related organizations as well as golfers with disabilities who had previously been active in the National Forum(s) on Accessible Golf Sponsored by Clemson University and Indiana University's National Center on Accessibility.

In July of 2002 the Alliance Leadership Council voted to pursue Incorporation status as a private organization and to seek tax exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service. The Alliance was incorporated in the State of Indiana in October of 2002 and tax exempt status as a 501(c))(3) organization was granted in late January of 2003.

As a result of these developments, The original leadership council which was advisory to the 3 University's under the MOU, now are a policy making Board of Directors of the National Alliance for Accessible Golf, Inc.

For the immediate future, the Alliance will continue its affiliation with Indiana University via an External Agency Agreement and will continue to be housed at the National Center on Accessibility.
